From Hot Potato to Highest Potential: Level Two: A Manager’s Guide to Dealing with Workplace Ethical Dilemmas

Date: Wednesday, March 19 2014 - 10:00 AM to 11:30 AM

Description:  This webinar will help managers identify and achieve the best possible outcome from a bad situation. We will be considering the most important questions to ask yourself when you first perceive an ethical dilemma, to avoid the despair that comes from having to choose between two highly undesirable options. You’ll see how creative, optimistic thinking can generate positive, innovative options, and then describe how to weigh those options to identity the most ethical choice. And we don’t just mean considering your ethical principles and those of your organization. There are ethical implications for the wise use of resources and timeliness too.

The webinar will also include advice on who to involve and where managers can seek guidance.

Jane Garthson will present practical ideas based on her many years as an entrepreneur, Executive Director of a nonprofit federation and senior manager in the Ontario public service. She will share examples where this approach has been wildly successful; walk attendees through a sample ethical dilemma that managers might face, and invite questions and stories from the managers who are attending.

Outcome: From Hot Potato to Highest Potential: Level One: A Manager’s Guide to Dealing with Ethical Dilemmas is intended to provide enhanced likelihood of future solutions people can respect, and that minimize ethical risks. Participants will leave feeling more ready to face future dilemmas, and more confident they can find ethical solutions.
