Suzanne brings to organizational reviews of ethics guidance, training and assurance a considerable expertise in health research, evaluation, policy and planning issues, a proven track record in community-based research and strategic planning, and skills in facilitating group decision-making.

Suzanne currently manages several research projects at the Centre for Health Promotion in cost-effectiveness, community capacity, community systems, international indicators, and evaluation. She teaches planning and group facilitation and provides consultation in a variety of topics related to health promotion. She has directed a collaborative research enterprise between a public health department, a university and local communities. Suzanne has 15 years of accumulated experience working in the public health sector for the Ontario Ministry of Health and the Toronto and North York Public Health Departments. Special projects included the introduction of program-based planning and budgeting, implementation of Health Toronto 2000, the production of an internationally acclaimed report on health goals in 1987 (Health for All Ontario), and the report Community Health Matters of the Minister's Advisory Group on Health Promotion.

Dr. Jackson has designed and led qualitative research projects, group discussions, strategic planning retreats, and provided consultation for a variety of voluntary, government and community organizations. Ethics in research as well as planning and management are particular areas of strength. Her EthicScan practice has included statements of environmental values, characteristics of socially responsible organizations, and strategic planning for government ministries and departments.

Suzanne received her Ph.D. from the School of Urban and Regional Planning at the University of Waterloo specializing in long-term strategic planning in rapidly changing environments. She has been invited to speak at provincial, national and international conferences and has served on provincial and national professional associations as Chair. She teaches health promotion planning, fully participative group decision-making to practitioners, and has taught strategic planning, strategic management and ethical management to the Ontario Civil Service.
